![]() ![]() I can app switch with no reloading because of the extra ram, but the responsiveness once open doesn't have as much to do with available ram because of how Android handles memory usage (basically foreground apps get however much memory they need). Personally I'm using a OP6 now and am blown away at how smooth and fast this device is, 2 months later and it feels exactly the same as day 1 with zero optimizations on my part. The Pixel 2 has gotten a LOT of flak from reviewers over time as becoming very sluggish over time, so it's not the best benchmark device out there. Many apps are still single threaded however and that comes down to clock speed and IPC on the cpu. Not many applications use all the available system memory and if you're running just that (not multitasking), you're not going to run into a ram issue. Not sure where you're getting that ram is always the bottleneck / lowest denominator, in a PC it's typically storage and CPU. Should the issue persist, try clearing the app or game cache to remove any temporary files that may have become corrupt. After using this option, open the app or game again and test. They have the same amount of ram but the Priv had a flagship grade processor in it (at time of launch, the 808 was not a good SoC overall but it was high tier). Within Downloaded, tap on the app or game that may be causing stability issues. I dunno, after comparing a KeyOne side by side with my Priv I came away feeling like the Priv was still faster in 60%+ of apps I tested (no games). I've never experienced such poor performances with my previous android phones (which were all "cheap" phones at 300€) and my habits haven't changed since my first phone. But the point isn't what I tried or didn't try in order to fix it, it's that I don't see the point of buying a this kind of smartphone if I can't even use mainstream apps like Google maps. I've often read that I have to profile my phone and uninstall some apps in order for it to become usable again, and I tried all of this. These issues also appear whenever I use an app in the background like Google Maps, while using other apps. in the morning when I wake up, or after recharging my phone. I noticed these issues arise when I don't use my phone for a while, e.g. Often it becomes so slow that it freezes for about a minute. I have to reboot my phone once to twice a day for it to become usable now. I have the K1, and have been experiencing the things you describe since I bought it back in October 2017. ![]()
